Partners

The UNCCD's 10-year Strategic Plan, the Paris Declaration, the Monterrey Consensus and the One UN reform stress that building partnerships between national and international actors is essential for mobilizing resources.

In this context, the GM acts as a hub for a dynamic network of partners, committed to focusing their energies, resources and knowledge to deliver the goals of development: partnerships have been forged with governments, bilateral and multilateral development cooperation agencies, the private sector, civil society, and academia. These partnerships draw on the comparative advantages of partners in order to achieve the development outcomes set and impact at all levels.

The GM's current partners can be divided into four groups:

  • Donors

    The GM enjoys the financial support of a range of donors including IFAD, the World Bank, the European Commission, the OPEC Fund for International Development and 9 other bilateral donor agencies.

  • Facilitation Committee Members

    The FC was conceived as a demand-driven advisory body to the GM, providing support on how to develop its operations and mandated to foster collaborative institutional arrangements between the GM and institutions with relevant technical and financial expertise.

    The GM partners with a broad range of organizations that backstop the GM's global and regional initiatives, strategic programmes, and knowledge management activities, by offering invaluable advice in their fields of expertise.
