Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV) is a division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The agency is in charge of implementing a global cooperation programme for social, economic and environmental development.
MASHAV operates in the framework of the Millennium Development Goals, with a focus on the goals of poverty reduction; food security; women empowerment; and provision of education and health services. The agency mainly acts as a provider of training courses and technical assistance.
MASHAV is active in various areas that are particularly relevant for the implementation of the UNCCD, such as desert agriculture; irrigation; and sustainable management of natural resources. In these sectors, preference is given to small-scale activities and micro projects.
A complete list of the overseas training programmes in agriculture and rural development is available on the website. Prospective applicants must contact an Israeli Mission (list available) and fill in an application form.
