Structure of the GM
The structure of the Global Mechanism is based on a matrix approach, combining regional and strategic programmes. The programmes work hand-in-hand to support country Parties in developing comprehensive country programmes to increase investments into sustainable land management.
The Value of Land
Land is central to achieving macro-economic growth, with a clear potential to reduce poverty and promote rural development. In particular, land resources are integral to increasing agricultural productivity, improving access to markets for small-scale farmers, and supporting broad efforts to secure long-term food security and national food sovereignty.
Who We Are
The GM's mission is to support developing countries to increase investments into Sustainable Land Management (SLM), in order to help reverse, control and prevent land degradation, whilst promoting economic and social development.
